42 families are fighting to save their homes in a municipality 5km from Roses (Girona).
08.07.09 - Save Sun Village, Save Palau-Saverdera!
Sun Village, the development that is situated in the Palau-Saverdera municipal district is to be demolished. This decision was passed by the Tribunal Superior Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), which on May 18th, 2009 also gave the City Council five months to demolish the homes of Sun Village.
The 42 owners of the homes are fighting against the clock to avoid the destruction of their houses. The neighbours of the development can not comprehend how Sun Village can be torn down when they have been granted a licence by the City Council and an official occupancy certificate by the Generalitat de Catalunya. For some, their Sun Village home is their first personal property. In addition, there are enormous costs the city council would have to undertake in order to compensate the value of the homes should the development be destoryed.
SCR is responsible for the communications of the community of owners. The first steps have included the organization of a press conference, which took place on Wednesday 1st July in Girona. In addition, the blog www.savesunvillage.blogspot.com has been created, which acts as a meeting point for both residents and the people who want to support them and keep informed on the latest developments.
